The multi award-winning Broadway production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The King and I returns to London’s West End, following its record-breaking season at The London Palladium and sell-out UK Tour.
Starring the critically-acclaimed Helen George (best-known for her role as the iconic Trixie in Call The Midwife) as Anna, don’t miss this “sumptuous” (Times) and “breath-taking” (New York Times) production of the musical classic. The King and I is the greatest musical from the golden age of musicals – with one of the finest scores ever written featuring hits Whistle a Happy Tune and Shall We Dance. Brought to life by Tony Award-winning director Bartlett Sher (South Pacific, My Fair Lady, To Kill a Mockingbird), this gloriously lavish production will feature a world-class company of over 50 West End and Broadway performers.
A strictly limited London season at the Dominion Theatre – for just 6 weeks only – this simply is the most gloriously romantic production in the West End. Book now for performances from 20 January – 2 March 2024.

Great emphasis on the costumes and story with a minimal set. The story was allowed to be told in a timely manner and there were a few extra songs that I had not previously heard.

We haven’t been to anything live in London for years, and immediately remembered how magical it is. The King and I cast were multi-age as you would expect from the plot, and each and everyone smashed their performances. With fantastic live orchestra, costumes and set design. Trixie, you nailed it, along with new stars in the making! The crown Prince, Eliza, the wronged couple from Burma and the chief wife!

Beautifully sung, well acted. This wonderful stage show perfectly re creates the well known and popular film version. Helen George was a revelation and Darren Lee did the impossible and matched Yul Brynner’s portrayal. The whole cast were magnificent. A great night out.

Overall a lovely show but my friend and I both felt there was some energy and enthusiasm missing from the production. Felt the role of Anna was miss cast and although vocal adept acting felt lack luster. The King was better and the lovers very good. The number one wife was excellent. But wasn't pulled into the story and felt the cast were not inhabiting the characters. Felt more like a concert version. This musical has such wonderful songs and so many of them, but even these numbers didn't seem to take off and hit the emotions. Dance sequences very impressive.
